The SR HIM Technician will function as a department resource and Super User for software programs, oversee medical record projects, and perform various clerical functions to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of medical records.

Responsibilities
Function as a department resource and Super User for pertinent software programs (Cerner, EMON etc)
Cross train across the department as the Preceptor for new hires
Responsible for medical record projects (completing duplicate record merges accurately and timely, process deficiency letters timely and update suspension monthly)
Monitor Cerner Direct inboxes and reconcile bounce backs
Process HIM closure accurately and timely
Additional duties, order supplies for the department and as assigned, assume responsibility and accountability for technical department functions including the proper disclosure of medical record information, electronic deficiency analysis, coordination of the physician incomplete area and birth certificate processing
Other responsibilities as assigned include the performance of miscellaneous clerical functions including prepping, scanning, and quality control of medical records, Inpatient/Outpatient/ER record processing, filing, record retrieval, transcription/loose reports processing and telephone answering

Qualification
Required
High school graduate/equivalent; technical school/2 Years of college/associate's degree preferred
1 - 3 years' HIM experience in an acute care facility utilizing an EMR system
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
High level of accuracy
Experience with electronic health records (EHR)
Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality of medical information
Proficiency in computer skills including typing and accuracy
Preferred
RHIA, RHIT Preferred
