Responsibilities
Design mechanical components and assemblies with a focus on sheet‑metal fabrication
Create accurate, manufacturable designs using SolidWorks and related mechanical design tools
Interpret customer specifications and site requirements to develop practical mechanical solutions
Balance customization needs with standardized design practices to improve efficiency and consistency
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the design process
Apply strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance with relevant codes and standards
Manage design documentation, BOMs, and revisions within ERP, PLM, and Engineering Vault systems
Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners across the Minneapolis - St. Paul Metro
Contribute to projects that impact communities in Burnsville, Savage, Apple Valley, Bloomington, Eagan, Lakeville, and Prior Lake, and the greater Twin Cities

Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
Experience using Solidworks for 3D design
Product development/redevelopment experience
The ability to source components and work directly with vendors
Preferred
Machine design experience strongly preferred
Experience with power distribution and/or electrical equipment a plus
