Quality Control Inspector - 2nd Shift
Drug Plastics is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to join their team. The role involves inspecting finished products and ensuring compliance with specifications while maintaining accurate documentation of inspections.

Responsibilities
Complete QC inspection rounds in a ‘timely fashion’, conducting four (4) inspections per machine per shift while saving appropriate samples per customer specifications
Approve production set-ups prior to the start of production to assure that the product meets critical specifications
Re-approve the production set-up on any machine on which production has been suspended for 2 or more hours
Check appropriate number of samples and perform all measurements as specified on Product Quality Cards
Accurately measure product with micrometers, calipers, scales and other measuring instruments. Enter measurements into the daily inspection reports and/or the computer in the Quality Control office
Visually check the color of products
Use a spectrophotometer to verify products’ compliance with light transmission specifications
Perform measurement of products on optical comparator as required
Randomly select samples of specified products for inspection of product quality, flame treatment, proper carton and packing usage, proper labeling and adherence to all customer specifications
Review master Set-Up Checklist to assure that the information contained is complete and correct, and if the bottle meets specifications give written approval for production operations to begin
Respond to quality control related questions from Packer/Inspectors, Mechanics, or Shift Supervisors
Complete and provide to supervisor all required daily QC inspection reports
If the product, its packaging, or labeling fails to meet specifications, the circumstance is to be documented on an Inspection Report and 320 Summary Report, and the appropriate supervisors are to be notified. Samples of any questionable defective product, packaging or labeling materials are to be saved for review by the Quality Manager
When doing a random sampling of product, if product is found to not meet specifications, a 100% re-inspection must be called. If appropriate notify supervisors, sorting room and other required personnel to accomplish this task
Examine product presented by Process Mechanics and/or Supervisors for approval to eliminate 320 or No Pack conditions, and determine whether product meets specifications
Notify Quality Manager if additional information if required, such as PQS sheets or product drawings, to fully accomplish the inspection on any new or existing product
Check current Inspector Reports for accurate information and prepare Inspector Reports for the following day’s activities and upcoming set-ups
Effectively and fully communicate any problems regarding quality issues to the Quality Inspector on the upcoming shift
Maintain all areas around equipment and work areas in a clean and organized manner
Perform light housekeeping duties in Quality Control office
Undertake personal responsibility to become, and remain fully qualified to perform all aspects of the position as outlined in the Job Competencies for the Position of Quality Inspector
Relieve Packer/Inspectors and Sorting Room personnel as required
Follow safety guidelines, Company policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

Qualification
Required
Good mathematical skills to perform calculations adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing whole numbers, fractions and decimals
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
Ability to read and interpret instructional materials
Intermediate computer skills
Demonstrated ability to make well thought out decisions and ensures appropriate courses of action are taken
Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment and under pressure
Vision must be correctable to '20-20' to read all necessary work related materials and visually identify defects in products being produced. Must be able to perceive and accurately identify differences in colors and shadings
Hearing acuity sufficient to understand spoken instructions or phone conversations in a factory environment
Ability to work overtime (OT) as required
3 to 5 years previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Minimum 3 years experience as a Quality Inspector
Plastics industry experience a plus
