Responsibilities

Design data models (conceptual, logical, physical) to support analytics, reporting, and data science use cases
Establish data standards, governance practices, lineage, and master/reference data strategies
Recommend technologies and patterns (ELT vs ETL, CDC, streaming, batch)
Partner with data engineers to translate architectural designs into reliable pipelines
Define security, privacy, and compliance controls with InfoSec and Compliance (e.g., PHI/PII handling, RBAC/ABAC, data masking)
Improve data quality through metadata, profiling, validation rules, and defined SLAs/SLOs
Produce architectural artifacts, decision records, and roadmaps aligned to business priorities
Provide guidance on cost optimization, performance tuning, and cloud scalability
Review solution designs, mentor engineers, and contribute to reference implementations

Required

5+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles
At least 2 years designing enterprise data platforms
Strong data modeling skills (3NF, dimensional/star, data vault) and familiarity with modern lakehouse patterns
Hands-on understanding of SQL, Python, and distributed compute (e.g., Spark)
Experience with cloud-native data services and performance/cost trade-offs
Understanding of ELT/ETL, CDC, streaming, batch, orchestration, and CI/CD for data
Knowledge of data governance, metadata, lineage, MDM/RDM, and data quality practices
Strong communication skills and ability to translate business needs into technical architecture
Experience in a consulting environment

Preferred

Familiarity with common life sciences data domains (clinical, commercial, R&D, manufacturing, quality)
Experience supporting analytics, ML, or reporting use cases across cross‑functional teams
