Senior Software Engineer
AdAstra Talent Advisors is dedicated to protecting critical space infrastructure through enhanced observability and space system cybersecurity. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build production-grade backend systems that facilitate data movement and processing between hardware interfaces and cloud environments.
Responsibilities
Architect and build high-performance backend systems that connect hardware interfaces, data processing nodes, and cloud-based services
Develop APIs, streaming pipelines, and orchestration layers that move and process real-time telemetry and sensor data
Integrate Python and C++ components into cohesive, production-quality backend services
Design systems that are fault-tolerant, observable, and scalable — from embedded edge systems to cloud analytics
Collaborate across software, hardware, and ML teams to define integration points and data interfaces
Lead technical discussions, code reviews, and design reviews for backend architecture
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and system-level monitoring and automation
Qualification
Required
5–8+ years of experience building production-grade backend systems
Strong proficiency in Python for backend and orchestration work
Familiarity with C++ integration and building interfaces between mixed-language systems
Experience architecting or developing high-throughput or low-latency systems — ideally in space, RF, EW, or other real-time domains
Deep understanding of distributed system design, performance optimization, and reliability engineering
Proficiency with Linux development environments, containerization (Docker), and CI/CD workflows
Strong communication skills and the ability to drive technical decisions across cross-disciplinary teams
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Preferred
Experience with telemetry, message buses, or streaming frameworks (e.g., Redis, Kafka, ZeroMQ, or DDS)
Exposure to space, aerospace, defense, or mission-critical systems
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or equivalent)
Background in RF systems, signal processing, or autonomous systems integration
Benefits
Comprehensive Healthcare Coverage (medical, dental, & vision)
PTO: ~4 weeks, plus 9 holidays, 2 floating days, and your birthday day off
Access to medical, vision & dental coverage
Access to a 401(k) retirement plan
