Director Sports Media & Creative Content

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) is seeking a Director of Sports Media & Creative Content to lead their digital and social media strategy. This role involves managing media assets, overseeing website updates, and generating exposure through live and on-demand content.
Spectator Sports

Responsibilities

Oversee all social media platforms including, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn & TikTok
Develop Championship content plans in coordination with CIAA photographers and videographers
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop a robust and ongoing content plan
Shoot and edit video content for CIAA across all platforms, including official website, social media accounts and streaming network
Assist with content/maintenance of the theciaa.com conference website, as well as photography archives
Develop, schedule, and implement a social media calendar to align with marketing strategies
Track, report & utilize social media analytics to amplify the CIAA story and enhance brand awareness
Create graphics and digital assets for championships, press conferences, and media days
Assist with oversight of CIAA Sports Information Directors’ Association
Lead the execution of the conference’s MacAttack podcast & live streams
Assist with website maintenance, updating schedules, results, and other items as needed
Draft original, informative & timely press releases
Collaborate with external consultants (Media Rights Partners/PR Agency)
Travel to assigned championships, events and site visits
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree required, preferred Master's Degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field with 3-5 years experience in collegiate athletics at a conference office or institution
Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, the CIAA, and member institutions
Highly developed organizational and leadership skills
Effective and professional communication both oral & written
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring critical thinking & multitasking
Demonstrated Graphic Design experience
Demonstrated ability to adapt to emerging technologies
Must be able to demonstrate professional competency by establishing and meeting deadlines, and balancing multiple responsibilities in a timely and high-quality fashion
Outstanding communication, organizational, interpersonal and written skills
Computer literacy with relevant software: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, etc.), website content management tools (i.e. Sidearm)
Demonstrated ability to show initiative and work with limited direction and supervision
Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse groups of individuals
Flexibility to travel extensively (60 days per year); and continuous availability (after hours, weekends) on a year-round basis

Preferred

Working knowledge of athletics business management
Demonstrated ability to activate better business practices with tangible operational results
Knowledge of the philosophy, function, structure and operation of the CIAA
Research skills and experience
Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
