Responsibilities

Maintain current knowledge of construction safety regulations, standards, and emerging best practices; evaluate and enhance safety programs accordingly
Advise leadership on safety-related risks, trends, and improvement opportunities
Ensure consistent compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and incident management protocols
Collaborate with project and field leadership to provide technical and administrative safety guidance throughout the project lifecycle
Lead site-based safety initiatives and committees, establishing measurable safety goals and performance metrics
Communicate safety performance, trends, and compliance status to internal stakeholders on a regular basis
Develop and implement project-specific safety plans, procedures, and training materials as needed
Participate in project startup meetings to establish safety expectations for project teams and subcontracted partners
Design, deliver, and oversee safety training programs, including new-hire orientations and ongoing field training
Identify, control, and mitigate hazardous conditions and unsafe work practices through active field engagement and collaboration
Conduct routine and unscheduled jobsite inspections and prepare detailed findings and corrective action reports
Investigate safety incidents thoroughly, complete required documentation, and communicate findings in accordance with established protocols
Coordinate with human resources and operations to support return-to-work programs following workplace injuries
Partner with senior safety leadership to reduce liability exposure and workers’ compensation risk
Accompany regulatory, safety, and insurance representatives during site inspections as required
Assist with responses, appeals, or corrective action plans related to safety citations
Support workplace substance testing programs in compliance with applicable policies and regional requirements
Represent the organization in safety-related regulatory or administrative proceedings when necessary

Required

Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, construction management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
Minimum of 7 years of progressive safety experience within the construction industry, including complex or high-risk environments
OSHA certification required; additional industry-recognized certifications preferred
Demonstrated experience developing and administering safety training programs
Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local construction safety regulations across multiple jurisdictions
Solid understanding of construction means, methods, and operational workflows
Proven ability to identify hazards and implement effective corrective actions
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
Strong interpersonal judgment, professionalism, and the ability to influence without authority
Analytical mindset with the ability to assess safety performance and implement proactive process improvements
Experience delivering classroom and field-based training, including program evaluation and continuous improvement
Highly organized with strong time management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
Proficient in standard computer applications and office equipment
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Work is performed in both office and active construction site environments
Requires navigating uneven terrain, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, lifting, and other physical activities common to construction sites
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work at a computer
Routine travel to project sites required; overnight travel may be necessary
Valid driver's license required

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, construction management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
Additional industry-recognized certifications preferred
