Responsibilities

Provide research services to support animal studies, such as assisting the Federal Task leader to manage a team of scientists and technical staff to perform virology research that is focused on high-risk (BSL-3 and/or BSL-4) viral pathogens
Assist with developing research program that takes advantage of IRF-Frederick resources to increase understanding of the pathogenesis of high consequence pathogens to include the use of animals models
Effectively work with the other staff members assist the Federal Task Leader with manuscripts to be published in peer-reviewed, ideally high impact, national and international journals
Assist the Federal Task Leader with leading and managing an independent virology research group
Design, develop and execute cutting edge virology research projects that utilize unique IRF-Frederick resources
Develop collaborations with NIH intramural and extramural researchers
Submit peer-reviewed publications, preferably in high impact journals
Support the NIAID research effort by serving on any appropriate NIH or NIAID committees or workgroups
