Mechanical Engineering Manager (Central), DC Design Engineering
Amazon Web Services is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the Central Regions mechanical design group as part of a global engineering team. In this role, you will manage a team of engineers responsible for the design and continuous innovation of AWS data centers, ensuring that mechanical features protect people and maintain data security.

Responsibilities
Be a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center
Driving improvement of design standards and project approaches across the organization
Coordinate with third party design vendors to review concept designs and designs in progress to ensure they meet established design standards, local code requirements, and any other requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)
Be responsible for providing high quality Mechanical engineering advice on a wide variety of projects globally while working with global Mechanical engineering teams to achieve alignment of designs and design objectives
Coordinating with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to answer requests for information and value engineering queries
Be responsible for construction documents, code compliance, design and installation standards, water supply evaluation and assessment, testing, inspections, and submittal review. Meet with AHJs as needed to ensure approval of Mechanical features
This position will require up to 25% travel
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field
Minimum of 5 years managing a team of engineers. Cumulative 10+ years of experience in design engineering or the construction industry, related to all aspects of Mechanical, including fire suppression systems, fire alarm and detection systems, fire-resistive construction, and life safety
Licensed Mechanical Engineer
Preferred
Experience applying local codes, National Mechanical Association (NFPA) standards, International Code Council (ICC) requirements, and other Mechanical industry standards, procedures, and methodologies
Strong knowledge of ICC Codes and Mechanical industry standards, procedures, and methodologies
Experience directly related to construction of data centers, critical medical, industrial, construction, oil and gas, or large-scale mechanical and power systems
Ability to read and understand construction documents for all trades (design drawings, control diagrams, specifications, etc.)
Experience with processes of design review, specification, development of design standards, and submittal review
Experience with performance-based alternatives to prescriptive Mechanical design. Advance knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems commissioning
Experience authoring white papers, technical documentation, training materials, Code Modification Requests (CMRs), and Alternate Materials and Methods (AMM) proposals
Strong business analytics skills
