Language Access Compliance Specialist

The DC Department of Human Resources is seeking a Language Access Compliance Specialist to join their team dedicated to ensuring compliance with the Language Access Act. The role involves providing support and technical assistance to District agencies, monitoring compliance, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance language access in the community.

Responsibilities

Provide quality support and technical assistance to District agencies to ensure that they are fully meeting the requirements of the Language Access Act
Provide ongoing guidance and resources to Language Access Coordinators and points of contacts (POCs) within agencies
Track and monitor periodic and legally mandated planning and reporting from major public contact agencies and covered entities
Coordinate field testing on citywide provision of language assistance
Analyze results for OHR’s annual compliance review
Actively monitor compliance with the L.A. Act
Respond to communication with non-compliance entities
Provide advice and support to the Language Access Director
Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders on community engagement and education efforts
Perform other functions as needed to implement special projects and fulfill programmatic goals and objectives of the Language Access Program and OHR
Conduct compliance monitoring with the primary responsibility to enhance the established systems for and monitor quarterly and annual reports from major public contact agencies and covered entities
Maintain and monitor biennial planning, quarterly and annual reporting from over 40 major public contact agencies and covered entities with non-major public contact

Required

One (1) year of specialized experience which is directly related to the position
Specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression
