IR Camera Mechanical Engineer Intern - Santa Barbara
Lockheed Martin is seeking summer interns for our Santa Barbara location! The Infrared Camera Mechanical Engineer Intern will develop 3‑D CAD models and detailed drawings for cryogenically cooled camera housings and collaborate with engineers to resolve integration issues.

Responsibilities
Tolerance analyses and interference checks to ensure proper fit with optics and electronics
Conduct thermal simulations to evaluate heat‑dissipation pathways and maintain sensor temperature limits
Support mechanical testing (vibration, shock, temperature cycling) and record test data
Collaborate with optics, electronics, and systems engineers to resolve integration issues
Work in a team environment to coordinate and direct test and systems related activities
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a bachelors or graduate degree program in engineering, physics, or a related discipline at an accredited college/university
Experience in a 3-D CAD modeling (Creo, Solidworks)
Preferred
Experience in lab-based courses with hands-on lab experience
Experience in Creo
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office
