Responsibilities
The engineer will be working in the Applied Research optical-materials lab
Typical tasks include measuring transmission and reflection spectra, performing Raman spectroscopy characterization, conducting scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) for morphology and compositional analysis, and evaluating scattering behavior of the fabricated components
Where needed, the intern will also participate in mechanical or environmental testing
Data gathered from these experiments will be meticulously recorded, processed, and visualized using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or excel, and the results will be communicated through clear technical reports and internal presentations
The intern will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot fabrication challenges, refine test procedures, and ensure that all work adheres to Lockheed Martin’s rigorous safety and data-integrity standards
