Trauma Coordinator - Quality & Safety

Responsibilities
Coordinates the trauma program components to include staff and community education, patient education, quality metric compliance monitoring and program needs assessment evaluation
Coordinate management across the continuum of trauma care, including the planning and implementation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, follow- up and monitoring the care of in-hospital patients, Develop and implement clinical protocols and practice guidelines, serve as a clinical practice resource
Provide interfacility and regional professional staff development
Participate in case reviews and offer feedback
Direct community outreach trauma education and prevention programs
Monitor clinical processes and outcomes
Monitor system issues that affect quality of patient care
Develop audits, case review tools
Identify trends and opportunities for improvement and assist in remedial mitigating actions
Serve as the liaison to administration
Represent the hospital’s trauma program in various forums: other hospitals, community committees, state committees, national committees
Responsible for ensuring that the requirements of the trauma program are implemented and maintained and, when applicable, appropriately escalated
Assists with the budgetary process for the trauma program
Expert in trauma program verification standards/regulatory requirements
Provide oversight of data collection, coding, scoring, use of data and validation of data
Acts as liaison to local agencies, administration, physicians and healthcare staff as it relates to trauma
Collaborates with multidisciplinary team and coordinates delivery of care to the trauma patient
Participation in research projects and community and national involvement with development of trauma care systems, when applicable
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science Degree (BSN) in nursing
Five years in acute care nursing required
A minimum of three years of trauma specialty experience
Must acquire a minimum 12 hours of trauma related continuing education per year
Strong management skills that include organizational, analytical verbal and written communication competencies and an orientation to detail
Licensed as RN in South Carolina
BLS required
ACLS to be obtained within 6 months of hire
Must obtain membership and actively participate in regional and/or national trauma organizations
