LABORATORY TECHNICIAN-CAS
The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the College of Arts and Sciences. The role involves preparing reagents, solutions, and microbial cultures, maintaining laboratory records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities
Prepares various reagents, media and solutions of differing chemical compositions and concentrations using sterile techniques and operating various types of laboratory equipment. Pours plates and tubes for culture of microorganisms using sterile techniques. Maintains and transfers microbial cultures using sterile techniques
Assembles materials for instructional laboratories. Receives incoming supply orders; labels and dates all appropriate supplies, stores at proper temperature, checks expiration dates and rotates stock as needed
Maintains records and files for laboratory management. Maintains laboratory processing area, equipment and instrumentation according to regulatory guidelines and laboratory standard operating procedures. Performs and documents quality control and preventative maintenance with proper documentation
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or a related field
Work experience may substitute for the education requirement
Preferred
Written and verbal communication skills
Interpersonal skills
Basic Lab knowledge
