Behavioral Intervention Aide

Galapagos Charter Schools is seeking a Behavioral Intervention Aide to assist with academic and behavior support duties for students. The role involves implementing behavior intervention plans, supporting social interactions, and helping to maintain a positive school environment.
Education Management

Responsibilities

Work with scholars in small groups or in one-to-one assignments to reinforce or follow up on behavioral consequences, learning activities, or intervention plans
Assist in the implementation of behavior intervention plans which may involve use of approved positive reinforcement strategies, behavior modification, other skills or knowledge to establish and maintain appropriate behaviors
Facilitate and support social interactions and foster the development of positive relationships between scholars
Assist all scholars by modeling appropriate behavior and attitudes and providing emotional support and general guidance
Collect information on scholar progress through observation, daily contact, and maintenance of accurate data trackers, and progress records/logs
Administer disciplinary consequences as directed by the Dean of School Culture, including restorative justice implementation, logical consequences, and peer mediation
Supervise scholars during cool downs, classroom removal, in school suspension, lunch detention, after school detention and other assigned consequences
Effectively deescalate behavioral issues and outbursts, remain calm and firm with scholars, and communicate effectively with scholars, staff and parents
Support the operations team with clerical tasks, setup, and office duties as assigned

Required

Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education - defined as completion of 48 semester hours of college coursework; or
Obtained an associate (or higher) degree; or
Obtained a high school diploma with significant experience working with children and supervising children's behavior
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Results-oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done
Drive to stay focused on scholar achievement and growth even when it is difficult
Grit to be solution-focused and keep going until the desired results are achieved
Growth mindset to see failures and setbacks as challenges to learn from and overcome
Belief in and alignment with Galapagos' core beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable

Preferred

Paid or volunteer experience working with or serving individuals with special needs or behavioral deficits is preferred
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
