Process & Mechanical Engineer Co-op | Intern

Responsibilities
Support project teams in diverse tasks: requirements gathering, concept & preliminary builds, process flow diagram (PFD) and piping & instrumentation diagram (P&ID) development, equipment specification & selection, engineering calculations, bill of materials (BOM) creation, materials selection, code & standard review/research, fabrication & assembly support, troubleshooting, and more
Generate plans & layouts using CAD software/tools and process simulation tools
Contribute to the creation and writing of technical reports & project documentation
Partner with a senior or principal engineer mentor to set and achieve personal and professional development goals
Participate in internal & client project meetings and compose reviews
Work with project managers to plan, manage, and complete tasks successfully
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a BS and/or MS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and personal management skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
Eager to learn and adapt in a fast-paced engineering environment; naturally curious
Ability to be on-site at our offices in Rochester, NY and/or Rush, NY
Preferred
Familiarity with CAD software/tools such as AutoCAD 2D/3D and/or SolidWorks is desirable
Familiarity with process simulation software; ChemCAD is the preferred choice
Previous co-op, internship, or relevant project background aiding engineering & creation of industrial machinery and/or automation solutions is an advantage
Prior exposure to ISO9001 or a comparable quality framework is advantageous
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools & methodologies is advantageous
Minimum GPA 3.0 preferred
