Entry Level Telecommunications Technician

Responsibilities

Splice fiber optic cables including both loose tube and ribbon optic cables
Construct a proper splice case, including but not limited to: grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage and sealing
Read and interpret work orders, specifications, engineering drawings and/or cut sheets to determine work to be done in sequence of task
Perform work in accordance with industry standards
Be familiar with BICSI standards, read and follow design engineers’ instructions and specifications, maintain the scope of work on the project and adhere to safety procedures
Interpret buried underground and aerial telecom facilities in records, on maps and in the field with clarity and detail and make recommendations for changes in running line or construction methodologies
Maintain inside and outside plant records during installation
Participate in engineering, permit and construction processes to support project contracts
Perform routine maintenance
Recognize and repair route issues including maintenance and hand hole cleanup, and sign placement
Connect wires and cables to terminals and attaches/detaches various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles
Respond to and participate in emergency and outage situations that require heavy construction capabilities
Ensure that all work considers the safety of the customer and general public and compliance with all governmental orders
Able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions
Complete daily production reports and As-Built documentation on prints

Required

Seeking a candidate that is looking to get Telecom trade experience (Layer 1 fiber/cat5/cat6)
Ability to carry 50 lbs or more as the equipment and tools are heavy
Ability to pass a drug test and a valid drivers license

M-F 7-4. Working at various customer sites across the island as needed, but starting/ending location for daily role is on site in Kapolei
Some positions open on Maui. Looking for candidates open to travel from Oahu to Maui, expenses and travel cost covered
This is a Permanent position based out of Kapolei, HI
