RESEARCH SCIENTIST
The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Research Scientist to join their center focused on pulmonary imaging. The role involves developing and maintaining advanced MRI and CT image processing algorithms and AI solutions to improve lung disease diagnosis and treatment, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
Design, implement, and optimize pulmonary CT and MRI image processing algorithms
Develop AI and machine learning models tailored for lung imaging applications, including segmentation, classification, and disease progression prediction
Ensure the robustness and scalability of existing AI algorithms
Regularly update and maintain codebases, incorporating new research findings and technological advancements
Conduct validation of image processing techniques
Collaborate on cross-disciplinary research projects, contributing to peer-reviewed publications and presentations at scientific conferences
Work with large-scale CT and MRI imaging datasets, ensuring data quality
Apply advanced statistical methods and visualization tools to interpret complex imaging data
Manage incoming data for core datasets including those for internal and external multicenter studies
Curation of datasets with quality control
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Doctorate degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience OR Master s degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience OR Bachelor s degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
Preferred
Experience in MRI is preferred
