TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (FIRE PROTECTION)

USAJOBS is seeking a Training Instructor for the DoD Fire Protection Training School. The primary purpose of this position is to provide quality instructional support in training firefighters to meet the needs of the DoD Fire Protection community.

Responsibilities

Conducts classroom, laboratory, and field instruction
Monitors and evaluates student progress
Monitors and evaluates firefighter courses
Develops and updates firefighting course materials to include lesson plans

Required

U.S. Citizenship Required
Males must be registered for Selective Service
Must be able to lift over 40 pounds
A current passing physical examination IAW the provisions outlined in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1582 is required
This is a CCAF position and requires Associates degree
Employee must have the following certifications: Fire Officer I and Fire Instructor I
All faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e., all teachers must hold at least an Associate's Degree
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems
Successful completion of Master's or equivalent Graduate Degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level Graduate education leading to such a Degree OR LL.B or J.D. with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level
Knowledge of fire protection training techniques, e.g., providing examples, demonstration, of equipment and/or process eliciting appropriate experience, hands-on drills, sequence, academic counseling, simulation, gaming and tutorial
Knowledge of Security, Safety, and Environmental Requirements
Knowledge of specialized subject matter directly related to assigned course of instruction
Ability to interpret technical data, prepare training materials, and evaluate course content and effectiveness
Ability to recognize and address student learning problems
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
