Financial Data Analyst
Green Spring Farms (GSF) is a leading farm management organization specializing in organic and regenerative agriculture. The Financial Data Analyst is a strategic partner to the Finance and Farm Management teams, responsible for building financial models, evaluating investment performance, and transforming complex agricultural data into actionable insights that drive profitability and sustainability across the portfolio.
Farming
Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models for forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning
Partner with the CFO on quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and long-term projections
Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate new farming practices, crop rotations, and capital projects
Analyze farm-level P&L, input costs, productivity metrics, and yield data to identify opportunities
Support the Finance team to automate financial workflows, including cost allocation, variance reporting, and expense tracking
Build dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI, Excel, Power Query, Lakehouse, and SQL
Ensure data integrity across all systems, including the development of validation processes for accounting data
Design self-service reporting tools for finance, management, and operations teams
Integrate data from accounting and farm management systems to improve decision-making
Serve as a financial liaison between accounting, operations, and farm management teams
Translate operational data into financial metrics and performance indicators
Partner with farm managers to develop standardized frameworks for measuring performance across regions and crop types
Work with operations leadership to assess the financial impact of sustainability initiatives, equipment investments, and resource allocation decisions
Collaborate on process improvements and system automation to enhance reporting accuracy and timeliness
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Agribusiness, or a related field
3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or data analytics
Strong proficiency in Excel (including Power Query and Power Pivot), SQL, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
Solid understanding of financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
Preferred
Experience with large farmland or real estate transactions
Knowledge of farming practices and crop economics, including permanent crop development
Practical experience with day-to-day accounting functions, core accounting principles, and processes
