Responsibilities

You will plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Mechanical Shop work, ensuring that the work complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs
You will develop goals and objectives that integrate organization Machine and Mechanical Shop production objectives
You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules
You will conduct periodic cost and schedule adherence meetings with other supervisors/managers, project and code senior representatives and others, as necessary, to keep cost and schedule on track for the assigned areas
You will evaluate estimates for labor and material and assist in the development of the bare bones estimate to perform the job
You will be accountable for the successful execution of assigned projects, including fabrication, contract work, shop work and other productive work
You will provide options available regarding equipment, processes, materials, manpower and other aspects of production
You will perform other duties as assigned

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Experience managing and overseeing projects and facility work and maintenance
Experience making independent investigations of shop practices, procedures, and policies to identify deficiencies and direct corrective actions
Experience with analytical management techniques, including production and material control, cost control and personnel management
Experience planning and executing facility modernization, incorporating advancements in equipment, and ensuring that equipment and tooling are available and are provided when needed
Experience communicating orally and in writing to resolve problems, initiate solutions, coordinate efforts, obtain information, and provide feedback to management
