Responsibilities
The Training Director leads the training function of OIDD's Regional Centers and is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining all elements related to training and professional development at OIDD Regional Centers while ensuring compliance with agency, state and federal requirements
Manages a team of training coordinators who support the Regional Center training function
Directs and supervises OIDD Regional Center training unit by ensuring classes are available statewide in compliance with OIDD policy, trainers are appropriately certified, and curricula are updated as needed to reflect changing needs and best practices
Oversee Regional Center learning management system (LMS) to ensure information contained in the LMS is accurate and employees are utilizing the system appropriately
Develops a system to monitor training across the 5 Regional Centers to ensure compliance with required trainings is tracked and maintained in accordance with document retention requirements
Evaluates the effectiveness of training and professional development opportunities being offered at the Regional Centers. Continually reviews training methods to ensure information is distributed to employees in the most efficient, effective and innovative way
Develop and oversee a successful mentorship program that aligns with the needs of the Regional Centers
Partners with Risk Management, Quality Management, OIDD and Regional Center leadership to identify areas where additional training or professional development is needed on a program or individual level. Identify the appropriate resources needed to provide and/or conduct the training
Manages the annual training and professional development budget and ensures it is being used and reconciled appropriately. Manages and monitors Regional Center training contracts and renews contracts within timeframes established by OIDD
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree
At least three (3) years experience in training program leadership
Ability to assess training needs and plan, develop, implement, and evaluate training programs/curricula, including facilitation and delivery as needed
A proven ability to provide technical assistance and work effectively with diverse internal and external partners to support compliance, quality improvement, and statewide training initiatives
Knowledge of methods for designing, administering and evaluating training programs
Knowledge of how to lead discussions, instruct training groups and stimulate individuals and groups in the learning process
Ability to plan and manage projects
Ability to direct, supervise and advise staff members
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and effective manner
Preferred
Experience developing and managing training to support developmental disabilities programs
