Responsibilities

Lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and quality
Develop and implement commissioning, systems integration, test standards, best practices, and audit processes for new and existing systems
Define key metrics and KPIs to drive data-informed decision-making and clearly communicate strategic insights
Collaborate with the project execution team to propose and implement new strategies that enhance deployment efficiency and reduce cost
Deploy high-performance software and robotics solutions with a focus on safety, scalability, and best practices
Lead troubleshooting efforts in customer environments and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve automation challenges

Required

Remote, travel-based position 75%. The individual in this role will be expected to travel to and work on-site at the project they are managing. Candidates must be located in the Central or Western time zones to ensure effective collaboration with on-site and cross-functional teams
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (e.g., Controls & Computer Control Systems, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering) or equivalent work experience
Minimum 10 years of experience managing large teams, including internal staff, contractors, and suppliers, overseeing automation projects from concept to production
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a controls engineer designing, implementing, and optimizing automation solutions
Experience programming industrial 6-axis robots (Fanuc, Kawasaki, ABB, Kuka, etc.)
Strong understanding of distributed data systems and their trade-offs
Familiarity with common controls hardware used in high-volume manufacturing
Expertise in modular, reusable PLC programming (Rockwell, Beckhoff, Siemens, or similar)
Experience designing HMIs using platforms such as Ignition, FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Wonderware, or TwinCAT HMI
Proficiency in developing and interpreting electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools
Knowledge of industrial safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA) and industrial electrical standards (NFPA79, NEC, UL508A)
Experience in automotive manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, general assembly)
Knowledge of machine PLC communication with relational databases
Experience developing machine vision applications (Keyence, Cognex, Halcon, etc.)
Expertise in integrating manufacturing equipment with factory software systems (MES, data collection)
Experience designing and implementing industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, Profinet)
Remote, field-based position
Travel is required up to 75% of the time. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations
The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis
The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms
The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols
Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness)
