Inside Higher Ed is a global higher education leader in innovative teaching, research, and public service. The Kelada Lab in the UNC Department of Genetics is seeking a Research Technician to perform experiments using an in vitro lung model to better understand the pathogenesis of asthma and COPD.

Responsibilities

Perform experiments using an in vitro lung model to better understand the pathogenesis of asthma and COPD

Conduct gene expression analyses on primary human airway epithelial cells exposed to a variety of agents that induce inflammatory responses

Receive thorough training in the in vitro cell culture model

Learn and apply principles of experimental design

Develop skills in statistical analysis of generated data

Communicate effectively with the research team

Required

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work

Preferred

Exposure to course work in Genetics, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field

Experience with techniques such as primary or immortalized cell culture, PCR, qPCR, or ELISAs

Experience with statistical analysis of data
