Responsibilities
Design, deploy, manage, and ensure stability of the local/wide area network infrastructure technologies to provide high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability to effectively and efficiently support mission critical business systems
Demonstrate a high level of competence in LAN/WAN technologies, routing and switching platforms, troubleshooting critical issues, and coordination of implementation
Represent the engineering department working closely with architects and engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing new technologies
Become a trusted partner of our engineering team through the delivery of excellent customer service and knowledge that will allow our business to grow
Troubleshoot and resolves major network and system issues
Document project requirements including scope, costs, schedule, testing and terms of delivery to ensure project is completed with highest level of quality on time and within budget
Lead staff efforts—mentor and train other engineering personnel in key elements of networking systems and provide technical presentations to instruct co-workers and other production services support individuals
Research and identify technology opportunities and their application to the business
Test and validate all new hardware and connections for proper configuration and performance
Qualification
Required
Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience
6+ years of work experience
Ability to read, write and speak the English language
Data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport)
Extensive knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
Extensive knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
Extensive knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model, using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations, basic network devices and basic network appliances, and network designing software, such as Visio
Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced team environment, and learn new technology quickly
Ability to use personal computer and software applications, Microsoft Office, telephone, copier, fax, and calculator
Preferred
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Juniper Network Certified Specialist (JNCIS or JNCIP)
Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Ability to work in a team environment
Proficient in administering Linux systems (Ubuntu, RHEL, Rocky Linux, etc.)
Proficient in administering Database systems (Cassandra, Oracle, etc.)
Proficient in administering SSL Certifications
In-depth knowledge in areas of specific Wireless/System applications such as Authorization, Authentication, and Accounting (AAA), Radius/RADSEC, Diameter, Load-Balancers, and working knowledge of supporting or integrating applications creating platform ecosystems
Experience working with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, Bash, etc
Experience working with Containerization services (Docker, Podman, LXC)
Working knowledge with on-prem and cloud virtualization platforms such as RedHat OpenShift, VMWare, and AWS
Experience working with developing monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, etc
Log analysis and troubleshooting using tools such as journalctl, dmesg, syslog, & logrotate
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and security best practices
Expert knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
Expert knowledge of software designing software, such as Visio and Lucid
Proficient with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g. Gitlab CI, GiHub Actions, Jenkins)
Proficient with Firewall and Access control (e.g., iptables, firewalld, SELinux, etc.)
System hardening and vulnerability management
Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills
Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
Ability to use the following office equipment telephone, copier, fax, and calculator
