Mid LevelNextPlay Jobs is seeking a hands-on Vehicle Systems Integration Engineer to own electrical system integration for custom and low-volume specialty vehicle builds. This role involves working directly with vehicles, wiring harnesses, and power electronics to bring complex builds to life, requiring both design and practical troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities
Design and integrate 12V / 24V / 48V vehicle electrical architectures
Develop and modify high-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems
Integrate and validate:
Inverters
DC-DC converters
Battery systems
Embedded controllers
Motor controllers
Design and support wiring harness routing and integration
Perform system-level troubleshooting on prototype and production vehicles
Support CAN bus, LIN, and other vehicle communication networks
Evaluate and improve EMI/EMC compliance
Work cross-functionally with mechanical, fabrication, and field service teams
Support documentation, validation testing, and configuration control
Contribute to scaling designs for higher voltage/current applications
Qualification
Required
Vehicle electrical architecture (automotive, heavy equipment, defense, specialty vehicles)
Power electronics integration (inverters, converters, battery systems)
CAN bus diagnostics and network troubleshooting
Hands-on integration experience (not just simulation/design)
Wiring harness design and system-level routing
EMI/EMC awareness in vehicle systems
US Citizenship Required
Preferred
Military vehicle programs
Heavy equipment manufacturers (Caterpillar, Oshkosh, etc.)
Specialty vehicle upfits or low-volume builds
Embedded systems development (C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, RTOS)
PCB design (Altium or similar)
Sensor integration and fault-tolerant design
RF/UHF/VHF radio integration
Vehicle networking / Ethernet
