Mid LevelNextPlay Jobs is seeking a hands-on Vehicle Electrical & Power Systems Engineer to lead the design, integration, and validation of advanced vehicle electrical architectures. This role focuses on high-voltage power distribution, embedded controls, and real-world system integration across specialty and mission-driven vehicle platforms.

Responsibilities
Design and integrate vehicle electrical architectures (12V / 24V / 48V and high-voltage systems)
Develop and validate power distribution systems including inverters, DC-DC converters, battery systems, and protection devices
Support battery management systems (BMS), motor controllers, and embedded control modules
Perform system-level integration of sensors, cameras, networking hardware, and vehicle subsystems
Develop and troubleshoot CAN, LIN, and other vehicle communication networks
Lead wiring harness design and integration efforts
Conduct EMI/EMC analysis and support compliance efforts
Perform hands-on testing, diagnostics, and fault isolation during vehicle builds
Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, fabrication, and field service teams
Support prototype, one-off, and low-volume specialty builds
Qualification
Required
Experience designing vehicle electrical systems (automotive, military, heavy equipment, or specialty vehicles)
Strong background in high-voltage power distribution and protection
Experience with inverters, DC-DC converters, and/or battery systems
Knowledge of CAN bus and automotive communication protocols
Experience with embedded controllers and system-level integration
Hands-on troubleshooting experience in lab or vehicle environments
Preferred
RF / VHF / UHF radio integration experience
Computer networking integration experience
MATLAB / Simulink
C / C++ experience
PCB design (Altium or similar)
EMI/EMC compliance experience
Background in tactical, military, or specialty vehicle programs
