Responsibilities
Modify system profiles, master files, and program codes to implement system changes mandated by hospital management
Assist the LIS Senior Analyst with the installation of computer hardware and software
Coordinate cabling and installation, peripheral device installs, instrument interfaces, and licensed software loads as they relate to the computer system
Prepare documentation used as a reference for lab personnel in system operations
Train lab personnel in system operations for new modules and enhancements to existing systems
Design and maintain corrective action logs necessary to comply with regulatory agency requirements as they pertain to the operation of the Laboratory Information System
Prepare, maintain, and perform daily operating activities necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the LIS
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and performance problems and notify the appropriate vendors of the problem
Work with vendors to find effective solutions to hardware/software problems
Maintain and document all scheduled and unscheduled downtime in the system log
Maintain and order necessary supplies for the operation of the Laboratory Information System
Perform data entry for department directors as requested
Work with department supervisors and managers in developing and implementing back-up procedures to be used during system downtime
Coordinate the design of forms for laboratory reports; act as a liaison for vendors to design and order forms
Maintain the laboratory system’s master files
Update patient laboratory billing daily; billings include pathology, send-outs, and general laboratory services
Prepare monthly client billing
Enter changes in pricing, nomenclature, mnemonics, and interpretative data to both the IS and LIS systems
Take calls and respond to system problems in the absence of the LIS Senior Analyst
Adhere to the Service Excellence Standards and Expectations at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center
Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers
Exhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job duties
Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive work and customer environments
Work as a team to continuously improve work quality
Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work schedules when it is necessary to ensure patient care
Present self in a positive manner as reflected by personal attire and etiquette
Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services
Will be on call when Senior Analyst is out of office
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Medical Laboratory Scientist or 5 years' experience in LIS
3+ years in computer operations
Preferred
Medical Technology experience preferred
MT/MLS preferred, not required
Certificates/Licenses for Information Technology, Billing etc
