Responsibilities
Design, develop, and configure hardware and software solutions for automated machines and processes
Support plants with onsite reviews and implementation of projects
Develop, maintain, and enforce automation and controls standards across equipment and facilities
Lead or participate in machine safety risk assessments and ensure automation designs comply with applicable safety standards and regulations
Provide technical leadership and expertise in automation, acting as a subject matter expert (SME)
Provide technical oversight and design approval for system integrators and automation vendors
Manage multiple automation projects from quote/conception to completion, this includes planning, budgeting, vendor selection, and management
Lead and manage automation projects from planning to execution, ensuring alignment with business strategy and regulatory guidelines
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and in team settings across multiple projects and plants
Guide and train automation engineers and other team members on best practices and new technologies
Train and support automation engineers, AME, plants, and other team members
Create and contribute to scope of work documentation
Develop comprehensive documentation for automated processes and systems for future reference and maintenance
Support FAT/SAT development, reviews, and sign off
Support PFMEA development
Development and execution of lessons learned and best practices
Diagnose and resolve issues with automation systems and hardware to ensure optimal performance and reliability
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Engineering, Computer Technology, or a related field preferred
Minimum 5 years' experience in automation machine control, process control, or equivalent work experience in a related field
Experience with automation for injection molding processes, industry 4.0, and AI integrations is desirable
Advanced proficiency in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial networks; experience with robotics, vision systems, and motion control preferred
Proficient with Unigraphics (NX), SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite; Ability to learn new software as needed
