Digital Media Specialist

Responsibilities

Updating content and organization of the department’s website
Providing design and content management support for the NCDOA website
Implementing the day-to-day social media strategy and crafting daily engaging content that supports NCDOA services, programs and initiatives
Conduct regular content analysis and convey best practices for social and digital media in strategic planning and implementation
Complete other public information duties as needed, including writing news releases, articles or proclamations, creating content for collateral materials such as fact sheets or brochures, or other tasks assigned

Required

Experience with social media engagement, management, online listening and analytics
Knowledge of acceptable standards and best practices for social and digital media
Knowledge of technology associated with web design, social media and/or digital communication
Ability to communicate with a range of audiences in a variety of situations
Ability to write according to correct English usage and accepted standards
General knowledge of journalistic, communication and/or publication principles and practices
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with media representatives as well as employees within the department and others contacted in the course of work
Ability to clearly convey information through a variety of venues to clients and customers
Ability to exercise sound judgement and initiative in handling sensitive information
Must have the drive to work independently and remain self-motivated to complete tasks
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, public affairs, media journalism, English, or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience
