Sr. Instructional Designer (AI-Enhanced Learning) On-Site
The University of Houston is seeking a Sr. Instructional Designer with a focus on AI-Enhanced Learning. This role involves providing advanced instructional design expertise to integrate AI into teaching and learning, leading initiatives to expand AI-enabled instructional technologies, and collaborating with faculty to create innovative learning experiences.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deliver AI-enhanced training, workshops, and seminars for faculty and staff, including support for responsible and effective integration of AI into instructional practices
Serve as the primary subject matter expert for instructional design with AI, providing consultation on pedagogical models, course redesign, AI-supported assessment, and emerging technologies
Investigate, evaluate, and recommend new AI-driven educational tools and platforms; participate in procurement and implementation decision-making for academic technologies
Troubleshoot technical and operational issues related to AI platforms, learning technologies, and digital learning environments
Train faculty on new academic software and AI-enabled instructional technologies and directs the work of graduate assistants supporting instructional technology and course design
Research and collaborate with faculty to develop innovative teaching experiences, including AI-supported content creation, adaptive learning models, and automation of instructional tasks where appropriate
Represent the University at conferences and events focused on instructional design, learning innovation, and artificial intelligence in higher education
Collaborate with instructional designers across the University of Houston System to advance AI-aligned instructional practices and resources
Provide leadership in system-wide instructional design meetings, contributing expertise on AI integration and learning technology strategy
Coordinate University-wide projects and initiatives that expand the use of AI in teaching, learning, and instructional technology
Perform other job-related duties as required, projects and initiatives
Qualification
Required
Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed
Minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience
Advanced instructional design expertise with a strong emphasis on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching, learning, and course development
Ability to design, develop, and deliver AI-enhanced training, workshops, and seminars for faculty and staff
Experience serving as a subject matter expert for instructional design with AI
Ability to investigate, evaluate, and recommend new AI-driven educational tools and platforms
Experience troubleshooting technical and operational issues related to AI platforms and learning technologies
Experience training faculty on new academic software and AI-enabled instructional technologies
Experience researching and collaborating with faculty to develop innovative teaching experiences
Ability to represent the University at conferences and events focused on instructional design and learning innovation
Experience collaborating with instructional designers across a university system
Leadership experience in system-wide instructional design meetings
Experience coordinating University-wide projects and initiatives that expand the use of AI in teaching and learning
