Responsibilities

Read and understand switch lists and movement instructions
Operate locomotives safely and efficiently in support of switching operations
Control locomotive movements in accordance with operating rules and crew instructions
Monitor locomotive condition during operation and report defects or abnormal conditions to supervision
Identify and troubleshoot basic locomotive operational issues and report unresolved concerns to supervision
Pre-Inspect and document locomotive condition in J5
Maintain situational awareness of switching activities, track conditions, and crew locations
Adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to, ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, regulatory and company requirements
Work outside normal shift hours as needed
Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Comply with NTG (Nothing Touching the Ground) requirements. Including daily audits
Be active in Operation Clean Sweep, and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposal

Required

A minimum of one (1) year of railroad experience as a qualified locomotive engineer
High school diploma or equivalent
Use of two-way radio communication
Safe operation of locomotives
Following movement instructions during switching operations
Performance and documentation of locomotive inspections
Use of PC and applicable software
Valid Driver's License
Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire
Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan
Must maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental training standards
