Community and Labor Center Labor Summer Intern (Multiple Positions)

The University of California, Merced is the newest campus in the UC system, focused on research and education. This internship involves conducting labor research and education, engaging in outreach, and assisting workers with documentation and resource access under the guidance of an academic coordinator.

Education

Responsibilities

Conduct outreach, one on ones, and public education on worker rights
Help workers find resources for filling out documents
Support with logistics, and assist with communications, and conduct policy/legislative research
Organize workers, conducting outreach, worksite visits, house visits and phone banking; conduct one-on-ones, conducting recruitment, member maintenance and participation; and provide education including public education (canvassing, tabling) and popular education (new worker orientations, training workers on 1:1 skills)
Service workers, helping members find resources and fill documents (i.e. citizenship, etc.)
Logistics, including event planning and coordination
Communications, such as using computer software (Canva fliers), digital media, storytelling (interviews with members), or public comments/ speaker training (assist with talking points)
Research, including policy/legislative research (finding data, prepping factsheets)
