Transmission Engineer

REI Utility Services is seeking a Transmission Engineer responsible for the planning, design, analysis, and support of high-voltage electric transmission systems. The role involves collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver safe and cost-effective transmission solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

Design and analyze overhead and underground transmission lines (typically 69kV–345kV+)
Perform line routing, structure spotting, and loading calculations
Develop detailed engineering drawings, equipment specifications, technical bid summaries, and technical reports
Conduct electrical, structural, and thermal analyses using industry software tools
Coordinate with substation, distribution, protection, and construction teams
Support permitting, environmental, and right-of-way considerations
Provide construction support, including responding to RFIs and field issues
Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, NERC, and utility standards
Assist with cost estimates, schedules, and project documentation
Participate in internal design reviews and quality assurance processes

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain
2–7+ years of transmission line engineering experience (level dependent)
Working knowledge of transmission design standards and codes
Proficiency with industry software (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, AutoCAD, GIS tools)
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred

Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience working directly with utility clients
Familiarity with ERCOT or regional utility standards
Experience with renewable interconnections or system upgrades
Ability to travel

$178 per diem for nights spent away from the Athens/Home Area on approved field assignments
