Intern - Plant Engineering
Metropolitan Utilities District is seeking an Intern for their Plant Engineering department. The role involves providing daily project support, including data entry, reviewing engineering drawings, and assisting with field visits and special projects under direct supervision.

Responsibilities
Provide daily project support to Plant Engineering, which includes data entry, scanning, filing of documents, reviewing engineering drawings, drafting of engineering documents, field visits, and other special projects as assigned
Review As-Built drawings for water and gas projects and assist in the development of drawings for proposed projects
Process various records and drawings as needed
Inspect contracted work and generate associated reports
Assist with transfer of documents to permanent electronic storage
Assist with miscellaneous special projects as needed
Perform field visits and construction observations and document findings with assistance from other Plant Engineers
Understand and comply with all District policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
Completed a minimum of one (1) year of college level coursework, preferably in civil or mechanical engineering, construction management, or a closely related or technical field of study
Must be currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program or if a recent graduate, must be pursuing post graduate hours
Have and maintain a valid driver's license Upon Hire
Employee(s) in this position are covered under the Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol testing provisions. This includes post-offer, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, follow-up, and return to duty testing. Upon Hire
Pre-employment Background Check & Drug Screen Upon Hire
Proficiency with personal computers, tablets, and/or other electronic devices to include familiarity with, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and enterprise wide software (e.g., SAP)
Ability to learn new or upgraded computer software as required
Exceptional organizational skills including ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, and adapt quickly to changing work demands and interruptions
Must exhibit good analytical ability
Efficient written and verbal communication skills, in English, to assist internal and external customers, co-workers and management professionally, regardless of provocation
Preferred
Experience with CAD
Ability to work independently on a consistent basis is preferred
