Collection Systems Technician II
Irvine Ranch Water District is a progressive agency with a reputation for its leading-edge practices in water management. They are seeking a Collection Systems Technician II to maintain, clean, and repair sewage distribution lines and facilities, while operating various inspection and maintenance vehicles.

Responsibilities
Maintain, clean and repair sewage collection lines, manholes, lift stations and other sewage facilities and equipment
Responsible for the surveillance and monitoring and minor repair of stationary equipment, such as lift stations
Maintain daily records of the operation and maintenance of stationary equipment
Operate portable pumps, ventilators, generators, pneumatic tools, gas detectors and similar portable equipment
Perform field maintenance of equipment to assure its proper operation
Respond to complaints concerning sewer odors, sewer blockages, noisy manhole covers and make corrections or recommendations
Train and assist the Collection System Technician I
Operate hydro/combination jetter truck, television inspection vehicle, utility trucks or other similar vehicles
Responsible for traffic control, proper safety procedures and reading and interpreting sewer atlas utilizing geographical information systems
In the absence of the Supervisor, may direct and guide the assignments of Collection System Technician I
Participate in a scheduled standby program
Comply with work-related safety practices and attend relevant safety training
Responsible for all other work- related duties
Qualification
Required
Equivalent to high school graduation is required. For degrees obtained outside the U.S., an official equivalency evaluation is required
Two (2) years of experience in sewer maintenance or related field is required
Valid Class ‘C' California Driver's License required at time of application
CWEA Grade II Collection System Maintenance certificate required within 9 months of hire/promotion
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of office/field employees, management and vendors
Represent the District in a professional manner when dealing with customers, outside contractors and agency officials
Ability to advise and provide interpretation to others on how to apply policies, procedures and standards to specific situations
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel). Keyboarding abilities sufficient to perform the job
Ability to use good personal judgment and discretion in performing all job functions
Preferred
Completion of water utility related college courses is preferred
Valid Class ‘A' California Driver's License is highly desired and must be obtained within 11 months of hire
