Senior Civil - Structural Designer

Holtec International is a global turnkey supplier of technologies for the nuclear and sustainable energy industries, and they are seeking a qualified Senior Civil-Structural Designer to support its multi-disciplinary Civil-Structural-Architectural group. The role involves designing metallic, concrete, and modular structures for the SMR-300 plant, while coordinating with fabrication and construction partners to ensure constructability.

Responsibilities

Design metallic, concrete, and modular structures, systems, and components for the SMR-300 plant
Support engineering and licensing requirements for deployment worldwide
Coordinate with fabrication and construction partners to ensure constructability
Support Holtec’s deployment of a novel modular steel-concrete structural system that enables accelerated schedules and reduced costs through extensive shop fabrication and site automation

Required

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural or Mechanical Engineering
5 years of experience using AutoCAD or Tekla to create 3D models and 2D detailed drawings
Formal training in AutoCAD, Tekla, Revit or SolidWorks
Conversant in Revit for concrete structure detailing and Tekla for structural steel detailing
Experience in producing GA drawings and connection details for SSCs
Experience in working with engineers, fabricators, and constructors in developing drawings
Knowledge of weld symbols and structural design codes and standards
Capable of reading equipment layouts, piping GA and isometric drawings
Display creative skills and problem-solving approach for resolving design issues
Excellent technical writing and communication skills

Preferred

Prior experience in nuclear industry
Industry experience in designing building foundations, elevated slabs and steel gratings
Exposure to US and UK civil and structural codes and standards
Experience in creating meshed models using HyperMesh or ANSYS
Exposure to large scale fabrication and construction activities
Experience in modular design development of SSCs
