Assistant Vice President, Transit Planner

Responsibilities
Explain complex technical information to diverse audiences
Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, models, infographics, cross-sections, and 3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of more complex and larger scale data, findings, or analyses
Organize and lead public meetings, respond to public inquiries for the client, and support long-range planning on large or complex projects
Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams in executing project work, approval or permitting strategy, impact assessments, and regulatory strategy, including project budgets, tracking hours and expenses, and task completion
Provide high level oversite for desk-based research and site work, including measurements, data interpretation, demographics, patterns and trends, and computer modeling
Strong understanding of transit service, corridor, and network planning and how transit investments support land use, and economic development goals
Prepare, edit, format and produce technical reports and displays
Coordinate and/or participate in the development and execution of stakeholder and public involvement activities
Manage major projects/programs for key public sector clients
Serve as a technical project lead for highway and transit planning and design projects
Have a strong understanding of the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA), including the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study process
Coordination with other task leads and staff
Prepare technical memoranda reports
Coordinate with multi-discipline technical teams to deliver projects to clients
Support the development and management of a portfolio of planning and design work in the highway and transit industries
Prepare a range of strategic and operational documents by researching and analyzing data
Prepare public engagement information and events for community involvement
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Sustainability in Transportation, Urban Studies, Economics or a related discipline
7-10 years of progressively responsible relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Applicable License or ability to obtain within 6 months
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, work cross-functionally and think critically
Familiarity with Florida Department of transportation studies processes
Ability to effectively present and communicate ideas orally and in written form
Critical, strategic and creative thinking skills
Strong ability to collaborate with individuals and teams
Computer skills (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GIS)
Ability to gather and analyze data critically and develop supporting information and reports
Experience leading, developing or participating in public and stakeholder outreach activities
Preferred
Master's Degree is preferred
PhD in Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Transportation Sustainability, Community Development or a related discipline preferred
AICP certification preferred
Certificate in Community Development preferred
