Senior Systems Safety Engineer (US)

Responsibilities

Provide subject matter expertise to Engineers to ensure system safety
Coordinate and lead technical efforts to completion in multidisciplinary environments (electronics, software, control systems, algorithm development, mechanical, thermal, etc.)
Develop and implement safety goals, technical safety requirements for safety-related functionality, and safety validation plans for a variety of products
Experience working with and implementing industry standards (IEC 61508 or ISO 13849 preferred)
Work with customers and regulatory bodies to ensure functional safety standards are clearly communicated and met
Project technical functional safety task planning, estimation, and tracking
Author technical safety requirements, safety concepts, and safety mechanisms
Create and/or facilitate system, subsystem, electrical hardware, and software safety analyses
Perform safety verification, conformance measures, and safety audit relating to specification, design, and verification of safety-related embedded control systems
Provide functional safety guidance to client products for specification, architecture, design, and verification of safety-related embedded control systems
Manage, mentor, and lead Engineers technical skills development and workload assignment

Required

Master of Science or Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical degree required
+5 years of technical experience, which may be in the field of robotics, electronic hardware, software, or systems engineering, or a combination of all these
Experience in the specification, design, analysis, or verification of safety-related embedded control systems

Preferred

Experience working with and implementing industry standards (IEC 61508 or ISO 13849 preferred)
Functional Safety Engineer certificate recommended but not required
Ability to travel is a plus
Familiarity with ISO and IEC standards recommended but not required
