Responsibilities
Design, configure, and manage Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments
Implement HA/DR, replication, and automation using PowerShell, T-SQL, and DevOps pipelines
Lead performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimisation
Enforce database security, encryption, auditing, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, ISO27001)
Define, test, and execute backup and recovery strategies
Act as SME in projects, supporting DevOps and CI/CD practices
Maintain documentation and promote database best practices; mentor junior team members
Qualification
Required
Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
Significant hands‑on SQL Server DBA experience
Strong experience across on‑prem and cloud SQL (Azure/AWS)
Deep knowledge of SQL Server 2016+, Azure SQL, T‑SQL, SSIS/SSRS, and PowerShell
Familiar with monitoring tools (Redgate, SolarWinds, SQL Sentry) and IaC/automation
Skilled in performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and optimisation
Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Able to work independently and collaborate across multiple time zones
Leadership mindset with the ability to influence without authority
Preferred
Microsoft Azure Database Administrator certification
Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or AWS RDS
Exposure to agile and DevOps practices
