Responsibilities

Monitor and respond to production alerts in a timely manner
Execute documented recovery procedures for known incident types
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve novel incidents
Document incident learnings and contribute to runbook improvements
Participate in post-incident reviews and root cause analysis
Provide technical support to customers via Slack (primary channel)
Deliver support through Webex when required
Troubleshoot customer-reported issues related to data pipelines and platform services
Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Escalate complex issues appropriately while maintaining customer satisfaction
Manage configuration changes across data platform infrastructure
Execute customer onboarding processes
Support data migration and platform upgrade initiatives
Contribute to automation and tooling improvements
Maintain and update technical documentation

Data Processing Frameworks: Apache Flink, Apache Spark
Data Platforms: Apache Iceberg (table format and ecosystem)
Container Orchestration: Kubernetes (production experience required)
Data Pipeline Engineering: Experience with data ingestion patterns, ETL/ELT workflows
Strong Linux/Unix systems administration
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar)
CI/CD pipelines and GitOps practices
Monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalents)
Scripting and automation (Python, Go, Bash, or similar)
Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for customer interaction
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
Demonstrated ability to manage on-call responsibilities professionally
Experience working in distributed teams across time zones
Comfortable with evolving priorities and technologies
Commitment to maintaining clear, comprehensive documentation

Preferred

5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles
Previous experience supporting data-intensive production systems
Background in customer-facing technical support or solutions engineering
Familiarity with streaming data architectures
Experience with incident management frameworks (e.g., ITIL, incident command)
Contributions to open-source projects in the data engineering or platform space
