Senior Process Engineer, 3D printing
Elastium is an advanced manufacturing startup transforming the legacy footwear industry toward rapid, fully automated, and localized production. In this role, you will be responsible for reinventing footwear manufacturing processes using advanced 3D printing technologies and collaborating with technical leadership to ensure stable production cycles.
Responsibilities
Execute the development of novel printing processes: G-code generation, debugging, material characterization and final part testing
Hack the slicer: push the limits of G-code generation, developing custom scripts to force the machine to do things previously impossible
Develop the recipe for "perfect foam": Define the exact process window that turns raw pellets into high-performance low-density foam
Bridge the gap between hardware and product: torture-test new hardware revisions to find their breaking points and feed critical data back to the ME/EE engineers
Work directly with the technical leadership to translate your manufacturing breakthroughs into stable, repeatable production cycles
Qualification
Required
BS in Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent
You live and breathe 3D printing. You have thousands of print hours under your belt and a graveyard of failed prints to prove it
Deep understanding of physics involved in FGF/FDM and polymer behavior: thermodynamics, mechanics of extrusion/deposition, polymer rheology, crystallization/viscoelasticity, etc
G-Code fluency: you can read raw toolpaths like a book and edit them manually
Familiarity with Python for process automation and building experimentation pipelines
Familiarity with mechanical testing, process capability thinking, and data-driven iteration
You're high-agency operator with mission-critical discipline and accountability. You identify and neutralize threats before they escalate
