Responsibilities
Work with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements for a set of features and incorporate appropriate continuous feedback loops measuring customer value, usage patterns, and other actionable metrics of value
Contribute to the identification of dependencies and development of design documents for a product area with little oversight
Help to identify other teams and technologies to leverage, including how they will interact, and when one's system may provide support to others
Contribute to determining back-end dependencies associated with product, application, service, or platform functionality for product features
Create and implement code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable
Write and learn to create code that is extensible and maintainable while considering diagnosability, reliability, and maintainability with few defects as well as understand when the code is ready to be shared and delivered
Apply coding patterns and best practices to write code
Create a clear and articulated plan for testing and assuring quality of solutions, and defines success for outcomes of tests (e.g., unit tests)
Add new tests, removes antiquated tests, and aggregates tests to improve tests in the feature area
Help drive efforts for augmenting test cases and ensures that the solution area has good test coverage
Help integrate automation features when planning for testing
Identify areas for efforts to integrate instrumentation for gathering telemetry data on system behavior such as performance, reliability, availability, usage, and safety mechanisms
Contribute to sustaining feedback loops from telemetry resulting in subsequent designs and help create outputs of telemetry such as notifications or dashboards
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C, C++, C# or JavaScript (C++ preferred) OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to C, C++, C# JavaScript (C++ preferred) OR equivalent experience
1+ years of experience developing and optimizing algorithms using C++ and practical application of data structures in software development
Experience in Git or other version control systems
1+ years of experience with Win32 APIs and ability to design and implement robust system architecture and frameworks
1+ years of experience in performing regression testing
