Responsibilities

Independently performs technical research and statistical work necessary to accomplish the objectives and tasks of the Department of Developmental Services (Department)
Collects, validates, compiles, analyzes and interprets data provided by other departmental units and regional centers (RCs)
Responsible for complex technical research functions related to department programs, including point-in-time, trend and multivariate analysis of consumer data on a wide range of topics related to services provided through the State’s network of developmental services

Required

Strong understanding of research and statistical methods
Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL as essential tools for data analysis, automation, and building data pipelines
Knowledge of research methods and techniques, including the application of computerized models to research data
Statistical and analytical methods for data analysis and projection
Survey methods, operations research, and other advanced analytical techniques
Familiarity with program monitoring or assessing program effectiveness
Ability to reason logically and apply critical thinking skills
Ability to communicate effectively about data and research to individuals and groups, verbally and in writing
Ability to analyze and make recommendations
Ability to plan and carry out research projects
Ability to prepare and present technical reports
Ability to participate in teams as a leader or team member
Ability to establish and maintain supportive, cooperative and harmonious relationships with others
Lawful authorization to work in the United States
California residency at the time of appointment
Consistent and regular attendance
Effective communication with the public, stakeholders, management, staff, and control agencies
Development and maintenance of knowledge and skills related to specific tasks, methodologies, materials, tools and equipment
Timely and efficient completion of assignments
Adherence to departmental policies and procedures

Preferred

Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI is a plus
