Responsibilities

Participating in the development of annual clinical and academic budgets totaling over $60 million
Performing financial analysis and account reconciliation across multiple funding sources
Advising department administrators on financial requests supporting all departmental missions
Providing recommendations to optimize resource utilization
Partnering with clinical, academic, and administrative stakeholders to ensure accurate, consistent, and transparent financial reporting aligned with departmental priorities
Performing other related duties as assigned

Required

Six years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training
Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems
Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments
Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely. Must be able to maintain confidentiality
Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports
Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment
Ability to adapt to changing priorities
Ability to function as a member of a team
Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources
Demonstrated experience in preparing monthly financial reports in Excel
Proven ability to learn various financial systems, task management software and adapt to changing work environments. Passion to learn and expand abilities
Strong analytical and data gathering skills and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment
Demonstrated experience and proven ability to evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
Demonstrated experience to monitor department deficits and areas requiring reconciliation. Proven ability to work with internal and external entities to ensure timely posting
Demonstrated experience staying up-to-date on developing reports and Oracle systems pertaining to job functions
Proven ability to review and approve financial expenses to be sure compliance policies are met and to maintain separation of duties

Preferred

Familiarity with Academic, Clinical, and Research missions and preparing detailed departmental Profit & Loss statements for Academic and Clinical Mission
