Responsibilities

Support the Safety Culture and Programs team in planning, developing, implementing Safety Promotion programs, projects, surveys, and related process improvements
Assists with preparing, compiling and organizing data and information to support decision-making related to Safety Promotion initiatives including survey content and implementation
Support development of communications materials including content development, presentations, program overviews, special reports, etc
Support coordination of resources and development and review of materials for Safety Promotion events
Assists in coordinating availability of resources and maintains schedules for various Safety Promotion campaigns and initiatives
Research regulations, guidelines, and industry best practices and support the team in identifying opportunities to improve Safety Promotion materials
Support planning, development and day-of implementation for safety promotion initiatives, including the Safety Fair and Safety Summit
Support planning and development of communications materials for additional safety initiatives (e.g. Safety Culture Survey, Rail Safety Week, Suicide Prevention and other safety awareness efforts)
Participate in early planning and design of safety promotion initiatives in support of SMS Implementation, including coordination and development of communications approaches

Required

Applicants must be a current college student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor's or graduate degree program in Safety Science, Engineering, Communications, Occupational Health and Safety, or other non-technical discipline or relevant two-year certificate
Ability to collaborate and work across teams
Organizational and detail oriented, able to manage multiple tasks
Takes initiative and brings creative ideas forward

Preferred

Strong oral and written communications skills
Interest in public transportation
Interest in public-sector communications, safety messaging, or outreach
Experience or interest in event planning, campaigns or stakeholder coordination
Project Management skills
MS Office and Adobe experience
Willingness to learn
