Quality Engineering Technician, Cell Manufacturing

Tesla is seeking a Quality Engineering Technician to ensure in-process products meet quality requirements and specifications. The role involves identifying quality issues, supporting investigations, and collaborating with Production and Engineering teams to improve the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

Conduct inspections and tests on incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards
Document inspection and testing results accurately, maintaining detailed records of findings, and reporting any deviations from standards to relevant stakeholders
Work closely with the quality/process engineering teams to identify areas for process improvement and support root cause analysis of quality issues, containing suspect products, sorting defective products and corrective actions and preventive actions (CAPA)
Lead and/or support with successful completion of engineering trials, new lines or equipment validations
Create and maintain quality instructions, alerts, and audit plans
Provide training to quality technicians on inspection techniques, quality issues and corrective actions, and troubleshooting processes as required

Required

Degree in Engineering Technology, Quality Assurance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum level 3 Quality Tech or at least 4-5 years of experience in quality control or quality engineering, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of quality standards, inspection techniques, and testing methods
Proficient with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, Keyence and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines)
Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality data analysis techniques
Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and interpret data accurately
Must have Command of the English Language, both written and verbal
Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift) while conducting inspections, retrieving samples, or navigating production areas
Must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 lbs. such as product samples, testing equipment, or materials. Frequent handling of lighter items (up to 5-10 lbs.) for measurement and analysis
Ability to work in varying conditions, including exposure to moderate noise levels, dust, fumes, or temperature fluctuations typical of a production or lab setting. Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes as required
