Responsibilities

Gain hands-on experience with biological research techniques, training in current SOPs as well as contributing original data to new projects
Assist in preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
Operate equipment for sample processing
Perform basic lab testing under supervision, including sample-receiving, logging, processing, testing, and reporting of results
Ensure lab environment is clean and well-maintained, following safety protocols
Working with supervisors and other lab staff to support goals of project and contribute to team discussions and problem-solving
Other duties may be assigned

Required

Be a current student pursuing a degree in microbiology or a related field
A basic background in microbiology is expected
Attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Preferred

Experience in an academic microbiology lab environment
Understanding of basic microbiology principles
