Industrial Controls Technician

Responsibilities

Lead troubleshooting and repair of electrical, controls, and communication issues on complex automated production lines Support Automation Technicians in troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to return equipment to production
Set up and troubleshoot motion control systems, servo motors/drives, and VFDs
Troubleshoot, maintain, and update in-line vision systems (e.g., Cognex or similar)
Plan and implement PLC and HMI software upgrades and perform functional verification testing
Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, programs, and complex automated system diagrams
Write test procedures to validate the effectiveness of software and hardware upgrades
Clearly document work performed in a regulated manufacturing environment
Maintain software, documentation, and equipment to current revision and operational standards
Identify critical devices on new equipment and ensure availability of manuals, cables, software, firmware, and support tools
Collaborate with the automation team during qualification of automated systems
Assist engineers with the design and development of hardware and software for automation solutions
Train technicians and operators on equipment and processes

Required

Minimum of 6 years of experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, VFDs, servo motors/drives, industrial networks, and vision inspection systems
Associate's degree, military technical training, or vocational training in Industrial Controls Technology or a related field
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex automated environments
Strong documentation, communication, and training abilities
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Preferred

Medical device or other regulated industry experience preferred
Software experience with platforms such as RSLogix, Logix Designer, FactoryTalk, Ignition, Cognex/In-Sight, or Siemens S7
