Akkodis is seeking a Lead AWS Data Engineer for a Contract with a client in New York, NY. The role involves overseeing data ingestion and modeling across various sources, developing orchestrated data pipelines, and ensuring data quality and governance in cloud environments.

Responsibilities

Oversee end‑to‑end data ingestion and modeling across APIs, files/SFTP, and relational sources using PySpark, SQL, dbt, and Python
Develop and manage orchestrated data pipelines with Prefect or Airflow, ensuring scheduling, retries, governance, and well‑documented runbooks
Utilize cloud data platforms to build scalable storage and compute solutions, leveraging S3/ADLS/GCS and Spark environments such as Databricks
Deliver governed data services through Azure API Management, handling authentication, authorization, policies, and versioning
Strengthen data quality and observability by implementing data contracts, validations, lineage, and automated alerting
Enhance performance and cost efficiency through partitioning, clustering, tuning, and workload optimization practices

Required

Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, data engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
6–8 years of hands‑on experience
Candidate must have strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark with proven ability to build and optimize scalable data pipelines
Candidate must have practical experience working with cloud data platforms, storage layers (S3/ADLS/GCS), and Spark ecosystems such as Databricks
